In 2020, the activities of Non-governmental organizations, the activities of the Commission, localities and ministries/sectors are affected by the shared global and domestic difficulties, in which the COVID-19 pandemic is the most influential factor. In this context, the Committee, the Standing Agency of the Committee and agencies in the Commission mechanism have been proactive and flexible in appropriating new approaches, successfully organizing activities, ensuring the suggested requirements. Ministries and local governments have actively supported and cooperated with NGOs.
In addition, the total amount of foreign aid to Vietnam provided by non-governmental organizations was more than 220.7 million US dollars in 2020. In which, foreign aid from Europe accounts for 41.3%, foreign aid from North America accounts for 36.2%, and foreign aid from Asia accounts for 22.5% focusing in prioritized areas in Vietnam such as healthcare, social issues handling and socio-economic development.
Especially, in 2020, non-governmental organizations have prioritized and supported Vietnam in response to natural disasters and the epidemic: 115 NGOs have provided cash, medical supplies, and necessities, education, and training worth more than 6,5 million US dollars for coping with the Covid-19 epidemic; and supported central Vietnamese provinces affected by floods with nearly 9 million US dollars. Considering the global and domestic situation, with the NGOs themselves facing many difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the results achieved in 2020 are very positive.
